I live in the countryside, about 160 km away from New York city, and a car is essential for getting around. Since I don't drive, I rely on my husband to take me places in his car.

On Oct. 18, 2016, I received a notice about a holy meeting at my church in NYC, where a mission team from Japan would be visiting. It's about a two-and-a-half-hour drive from our home, and it felt too difficult for my husband to make the round trip -- especially since he had been visiting his dentist in NYC weekly at that time. Still, knowing that attending the meeting was aligned with God's will, I prayed that I could somehow go. Soon afterward, my husband -- who had been reluctant to drive-- unexpectedly scheduled his dentist appointment for the same day, so that he could drive me to the meeting !

To our surprise, his van completely shut down and totaled. It had been patched up with repairs for two years, and we had know it needed replacement-- but it truly broke down just a day before the holy meeting.

At first, I couldn't accept it. I wondered, "Why now?" But I submitted a prayer request to my church and gave thanks, trusting that it would work out for my good.

Right before that incident, I had read a testimony in a Chrsitian magazine, "A Rainbow in the Clouds" about someone being given a car. I realized I had'nt been praying about my husband's car. I repented, gave thanks and began to pray earnestly: "Dear God, my husband has wanted a new car for years. Please hear his request and provide one-- free of charge."

Then, a thought came to my husband's mind. He had a friend whose father had passed away about three years prior, and the father's car had been sitting unused. His friend had been hoping someone would drive it, just to keep it in use.

The day before the holy meeting, my husband contacted that friend-- who lived in another state-- and he kindly said my husband could use the car free of charge! Not only that, he permitted my husband to register the title in his own name. A car was essentially gifted to him!

A few days later, after all the paperwork was done and we were ready to drive, snow fell-- around 30 cm. His old van would not have been able to handle the snowy roads but my husband said it handled the snow wonderfully.

I give heart-felt thanks for the grace of the Lord, who sustained our lives and provided exactly what we needed-- right on time.

And what's more-- in December 2017, the same friend the car permanently to my husband. It became his! Hallelujah !
